Sand Santa Cruz Open Gyms for High School Players July 2026 - Summer 2026

Sand Santa Cruz is offering open gym nights to rising HS Freshmen to HS Seniors. This is an opportunity for players to get additional reps through informal scrimmage. We will have two courts set up. The Open Gyms will be held at: VHM Christian School, 427 Capitola Ext Rd, Santa Cruz. The session dates are:

Open Gym 1: July 1st, 7 - 9pm

Open Gym 2: July 8th, 7 - 9pm 

Open Gym 3: July 15th, 7 - 9pm 

Open Gym 4: July 22nd, 7 - 9pm

$20 per session

Sand Santa Cruz Positional Training - Summer 2026

Sand Santa Cruz is offering positional training to rising HS Freshmen to HS Seniors. This is a great prep for club tryouts July 25th and high school tryouts coming up in August! We will have two courts set up. The Positional Training will be held at: VHM Christian School, 427 Capitola Ext Rd, Santa Cruz. The session dates are:

Week 1 (Setters): July 1st, 5 - 7pm

Week 2 (Liberos/DS): July 8th, 5 - 7pm 

Week 3 (Middle Blockers): July 15th, 5 - 7pm 

Week 4 (Pin Attackers): July 22nd, 5 - 7pm

Each session will have a positional focus, however all positions are welcome to attend! For example, at week 3, we will need setters to set our middles and liberos and OHs to help us run routes out of serve receive and play defense. All positions will be utilized! 

$35 for SAND Players**, $40 for Non-SAND Players

Positional Clinic registration includes FREE entry to 7-9pm Advanced Open gym!

Sand Santa Cruz Pre-Tryout Clinics 2027 Season - Summer 2026

Sand Santa Cruz will be offering free pre-tryout clinics for players wanting to tryout for our U15 - U18 competitive teams. This is a chance to meet the Sand Santa Cruz comp team coaches and work on your skills before tryouts.

July 5th, 3-5pm Harbor High School

July 12th, 3-5pm Harbor High School

July 19th, 3-5pm Harbor High School

$30 per clinic or $75 for all three when registering before June 21st!

Sand Santa Cruz U15-U18 Team Tryouts - Summer 2026

U15-U18 TRYOUTS

SATURDAY, JULY 25TH

LOCATION: TBA

 Please arrive 15 minutes early to sign in.

Sand Santa Cruz will be holding their comp team tryouts for their U15 - U18 teams on July 25th. Tryouts will be as follows:

U15s Teams (players born on 7/1/11 or after) - 10am to 12pm

U16s Teams (players born on 7/1/10 or after) - 10am to 12pm

U17s Teams (players born on 7/1/09 or after) - 1pm to 3pm

U18s Teams (players born on 7/1/08 or after) - 1pm to 3pm

There will be a $30 tryout fee which will cover multiple tryouts if a player wants to go out for more than one team (age permitting).

We will have a parent/guardian meeting during tryouts to go over the proposed season schedule, expectations, etc. 

Please note that teams may be filled July 25th. We highly encourage players to attend the pre-tryout clinics if they are missing the 25th. If a coach thinks they could be a good fit for the team, they may hold a spot for them regardless of the later tryout date.
